“There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.” ---Russian proverb
This Russian proverb articulates my educational philosophy. Learning is not about what is already known, but rather a journey of finding out. My classroom is a safe place to learn where all people are valued, respected, willing to take risks and make mistakes. I foster a growth mindset mentality where all can learn to think mathematically. Students are expected to think critically and justify their reasoning through precise vocabulary. I strive to create a collaborative environment in my classroom as well as my school and community. I value reflective teaching and learning . I always look for ways to improve, and I encourage my students to do the same.
